Lines
Business phone lines: shared when you need many, your own when it’s personal
Business phone lines on Speaks come in two kinds. Shared lines let you make up to 20 calls at the same time without setting anything up. Your own line is the number your customers know, for incoming calls and for outgoing calls under your name.
Coming soon. This is what Speaks is being built to do, and not all of it works yet.
| Shared lines | Your own line | |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming calls | No | Yes |
| Outgoing calls | Yes | Yes |
| Calls at the same time | Up to 20 | As many as your plan allows |
| Number that shows | A Speaks number | Your number |
| Set-up | None | A new number, or forward the one you have |
| Best for | Quotes, price checks and big lists | Your customers and your reception |
When someone rings back
A supplier who rings a shared line back gets the right answer, because Speaks knows which job that call was about and can take the message or tell them who to speak to.
Who it says it’s calling for
It always says who it’s calling for, on every line, so nobody’s left wondering. Your name goes on the call, whichever number shows.
Used fairly
Lines are there for capacity and proper callbacks, not to get round anyone’s block list. Calls stop when someone says stop.
Questions
Do I need my own number to start?
Not for outgoing jobs like quotes. Shared lines work right away. To answer calls, you need your own line.
Can I keep my existing number?
Yes. Forward it to your Speaks line, and customers keep ringing the number they know.
What number do people see from a shared line?
A South African Speaks number that can be called back.
Be first on the line.
Speaks is coming soon. Tell us what you want it to do first, and we’ll call you when your turn comes.
